We made concrete plates for a culinary competition in Singapore

We stand for the fact that concrete is beautiful and can be used to make many example pieces. We were fortunate enough to convince the expert jury of the prestigious FHA Culinary Challenge in Singapore in 2018. We made concrete plates for the Czech National team of cooks and confectioners AKC ČR. In this competition, the team won the highest award – the Singapore Lion. It was the first time ever that concrete plates appeared in this competition.

The days are gone when bathrooms were just a necessary part of every house without an original design. Just remember the old Formica cores in prefabricated buildings, which were more horrifying than aesthetic experience. All bathrooms looked the same and you could only make it stand out with the colour of your towels. Fortunately, those days are gone and when furnishing the bathroom today you can enjoy yourself and differentiate.

But yeah, you probably have very high demands because there is no such thing in the immediate vicinity. That one’s best years are behind it, and this one looks like it probably just had a wild graffiti party. Angry, you turn on your heels and walk away. If you’re familiar with this kind of situation, then you’ll be pleased by this message: nothing like that happens to you in the Brno Campus Square shopping centre.

Sometimes we get an unusual contract. So our work isn’t just about making the same thing over and over. Washbasins, kitchens, coffee tables … these are all the jobs we do with love, but it’s one of our most common activities. Therefore, when something unusual comes, it’s a challenge for us to take with pleasure. Such as concrete trophies for the Japanese Asahi brewery.

Concrete bowls for BASF

Imagine a bowl from concrete. What would it be like? We can tell you for sure that it’s not going to be cold or impersonal. Its elegant grey look fits to any environment, letting everyone know that you have a good style. Pavel Kozel, Regional Manager of BASF, for which Švec beton produced such bowls, is aware of this advantage. “Concrete is not only a cold material. It may look good. Depends on the fact who works with it, what does he make thereof,” he stated.

Whenever you walk around any elementary school in Brno, take a look on its bike stands. Are they made of concrete? Then you have just seen one of the products from Švec beton. Stands you can find in front of 28 elementary schools were designed by Tibor Mužík from Industry Studio. “Model must be perfect as the concrete will reflect even the smallest unevenness,” he explains.
