How an unconventional trophy was created for a Japanese brewery

Sometimes we get an unusual contract. So our work isn’t just about making the same thing over and over. Washbasins, kitchens, coffee tables … these are all the jobs we do with love, but it’s one of our most common activities. Therefore, when something unusual comes, it’s a challenge for us to take with pleasure. Such as concrete trophies for the Japanese Asahi brewery.

A few words about the Asahi brewery

The Japanese brewery is interesting for Czechs mainly because they’re the owner of Pilsen Prazdroj. They bought it in 2017 for almost 200 billion Czech crowns. However, it’s not the only company they own, in total, this brewery is located in more than 100 countries. Other European brands include Topvar in Slovakia and Dreher in Hungary.

Management Awards

We received an unconventional contract from Asahi – to create concrete trophies, which will serve as an award for company management. During the production we cooperated with marketing agency Boomerang Communication, which was in charge of the trophy design.

Bottle in concrete

The trophy itself looked like a concrete block into which we put in a beer bottle. At first glance, this may seem like a simple matter, but in fact it was quite a difficult task – we had to make sure that the concrete mixture didn’t enter the bottle. It had its neck open.

We polished the concrete castings and then printed with special paint. We didn’t forget to impregnate the trophies to make sure nothing unwanted leaked into the material. Finally, we had to wait for the final design to match – concrete, glass, printing with the company logo and embossed font. Lots of details can go wrong. Fortunately, everything went well and we can say with pride that the combination of concrete, glass and embossed letters fitted together nicely.
