How we revived Campus Square shopping centre in Brno with concrete benches with flower pots
I’m sure you’ve experienced it. You walk around the city and want to relax. The only thing you miss is a bench that doesn’t fall apart and isn’t dirty. But yeah, you probably have very high demands because there is no such thing in the immediate vicinity. That one’s best years are behind it, and this one looks like it probably just had a wild graffiti party. Angry, you turn on your heels and walk away. If you’re familiar with this kind of situation, then you’ll be pleased by this message: nothing like that happens to you in the Brno Campus Square shopping centre. You’ll find plenty of benches that you’ll like. They’re (not only) made from concrete and decorated with flower pots with plants. Read about the next project we’ve been happy to join.
Why concrete
Everyone will think that concrete has one indisputable advantage: it’s a long- lasting, robust material. So ideal for benches. In addition, we made them from a material that won’t please vandals – solid concrete isn’t easy to destroy. We also covered them with Anti-graffiti paint. This means that any graffiti can be washed off while preventing sprays from getting directly into the concrete, they just remain on the surface.
We didn’t produce TELO benches from just concrete, the seat part is wooden. The combination of these two materials fits together nicely and fits into the surroundings.
Don’t forget the flowers
We wanted the benches to perform more functions, so that they’re not just a nice addition to the shopping centre and a place to relax. That’s why we added a flower pot to each of them, which helped to bring greenery into an otherwise uncomfortable shopping area. A self-irrigating liner can be added to the pots so that the plants draw moisture as needed.
We beautify cities
This isn’t the first time that our company has been involved in beautifying cities. In the past, we’ve produced concrete blocks for a parkour area in Pilsen, and bike stands at 28 primary schools in Brno. So, we add TELO benches to our collection and hope to join the next concrete challenge soon, making a public space a bit nicer to live with.
